Do
you cover my area? top
In order to determine if we cover your area, please fill out
the "Site Survey Form". Once this is complete a
semi-automated process will take place at our end which will
produce a map and a theoretical path profile to our nearest POP
(point of presence). Depending on the analysis of the map and
profile, we will then dispatch a technician to do a signal test.
There is no charge for this test. Once the test is completed, we
will contact you and advise of the results.
Does this use my
telephone line? top
No. Our system is a two way, land based (not satellite), point
to point microwave link.
What is
included in the installation? top
Installation includes the pre-configuration of the radio
equipment, onsite installation by two trained technicians, mounting
of the outdoor equipment, cabling to the demarcation point,
connection to the router, testing of the link, creation of initial
email addresses, and explanation of same. The demarcation point is
determine in discussion with the client and is normally located in
a area allowing easy access by the customer from their main
computer.
What additional
costs might I incur? top
Extra drops refers to the pulling of cables and installation of
wall jacks to areas of the building other than the room deemed to
be the demarcation point.
There is a charge of $99.00 per drop.
If the outdoor equipment cannot be mounted on the building where
service is required to get good "line of sight" to the
POP, then additional cost may be incurred for the installation of
a tower or an underground cable run to a more suitable location.
These cost will be quoted ahead of time.
Why do I need
the Broadband Router? top
The recommended broadband router is the Dlink DI-604. The
DI-604 combines the latest advancements in chip technology,
low-cost design and manufacturing with new, feature-rich firewall
and network management controls to give you quite possibly the
most advanced, yet affordable Ethernet router to date. The Cable
Diagnostic Utility feature is the latest utility included in the
DI-604 for diagnosing cable connection problems with the wired
Ethernet cable. This feature can indicate to users which Ethernet
cable connected to the router has problems, identifying where and
what the problem is.
The DI-604 is ideal if you’re creating your first home or small
business network, or if you’re a more advanced user looking for
additional management settings. A simple, yet intelligent,
web-based setup wizard makes the DI-604 easy for anyone to quickly
and securely connect computers to share a high-speed Internet
connection, files, resources, games or just to communicate.
The DI-604 has an integrated 4-port switch with 10/100 Ethernet
ports for directly connecting up to four computers. And one
Ethernet cable is included with the DI-604, just to get you
started.

Why
is the router more expensive when purchased from Zing Networks?
top
When purchased from Zing networks, the Broadband router comes
preconfigured to allow us to monitor the link, remotely manage the
router for trouble shooting, and has a lifetime warranty.
Can I use a
wireless Broadband router? top
Yes, although from a tech support standpoint, we can only offer
diagnostic support up to the WAN (wide area network) port. This
would be the side we plug our outdoor equipment into. Internally
there are too many issues facing a wireless network in a home to
allow for any sort of successful telephone support.
What
is the difference between Residential and SOHO service. top
If your home based business can be effected financially by the
loss of your Internet connection or your employees effectiveness
is diminished, then you should consider a SOHO connection. A
residential connection is deemed to be of non-critical
entertainment and/or research value thus onsite support is
available at our discretion and availability. Our business
customers enjoy priority service and every effort is made to
ensure that any business service outage would be corrected a quickly
as possible.
